How we pick homes
Quick answer: We only recommend state-licensed homes. Before any home goes on your list, we check its license and inspection history on the California Care Facility Search, we visit in person, and we match it to your loved one's care needs and budget. Families pay nothing; the home you choose pays us.
- License check. Every assisted living, board and care and memory care home in California is licensed by the Department of Social Services. We look up each one on the state Care Facility Search.
- Inspection history. We read the visits, complaints and citations. If something concerns us, we tell you, or we leave the home off your list.
- In-person visit. We walk the home, meet the people running it and watch how staff treat residents.
- Fit. The right care level, the right size, the right part of town, and a price that works.
How we get paid
When your family chooses a home we introduced, that home pays us a one-time referral fee. It doesn't change your monthly price. We tell every family this on the first call and in writing.
If the best fit for your family doesn't work with us, we still tell you about it. And if the honest answer is in-home care or staying put for now, we'll say that too.

Your privacy
We only share your loved one's details with homes you approve by name, usually 3 to 5. We never sell your number or pass it to call centers. Read our privacy policy.
How our Google ratings list works
Our communities directory shows Google star ratings as of September 2026, weighted so a home with many reviews ranks above one with a single perfect review. Homes can't pay to be listed or to rank higher.
